Nishkama Yoga Advanced Teacher Training Modules begin June 2012!

Looking to advance your training?  Maybe you're looking to advance your understanding of Yoga.  Either way, join us for Nishkama Yoga Advanced Teacher Training!

This advanced training is a 500 hour level training offered in eight training modules (five days/40 hour) scheduled throughout the year with practical training (module 8) ongoing through the program.  Building on the principles learned in the 200/300 level programs offered at Nishkama Yoga, students will delve deeply into the most ancient Yogic traditions stemming from Tantric Yoga teachings.  Tantric Yoga is estimated to be between 7000 - 8000 years old and pre-dates the Classical Yoga tradition of Patanjali.  Further study of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is a large part of the training.

Modules should be completed in succession.  Students who hold a 200 hour certificate will be required to complete 150 hours of electives to meet Yoga Alliance standards for the 500 hour level certification.  Those hours may be taken at NY.  Some outside hours will be considered depending on the school of yoga from which they were granted.  Investment is $650 per module.  Please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. June 27 - July 1, 2012: Module 1 - "Introduction to Advanced NYTT"

In depth Anatomy in Motion, Tantric approach to Vinyasa Yoga, pranayama and meditation, and "reading" the human body in asana.  This module will help to lay the ground work for deeper understanding of the energetic properties of yoga practice and the ways to teach them.

September 26 - 30, 2012: Module 2 - "Beginning Purification"

Furthering Anatomy in Motion and Tantric approach to Vinyasa Yoga; purification of the body through asana, pranayama, and meditation; and Hatha Yoga cleansing techniques.  This module moves into a deeper understanding of the sequence intended in our advancing practices through the teachings of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika.  We must first purify the body before we continue to advance the practice of yoga.

January 23-27, 2013: Module 3 - "Building Strength"

Best approaches to alignment and assisting; Tantric Vinyasa; Mantra; Therapeutics; and further deepening the knowledge of Anatomy in Motion.  This module leads us into strengthening of the body as described by the Hatha Yoga Pradipika.

Dates to be determined (2013):

Module 4 - "Finding Calm"

Continuing to build on Tantric approaches to Vinyasa Yoga by invoking the "moon" practices of the Feminine Energy; advancing pranayama and meditation; continued depth of Anatomy in Motion.  This module will focus on calming the mind through asana, pranayama and meditation so we can better approach life's challenges and keep in tune with our True Selves in all circumstances.

Module 5 - "Maintaining Stability"

Continuing to build on even deeper Tantric approaches to Vinyasa Yoga through the Feminine Energy; advancing pranayama and meditation; continued depth of Anatomy in Motion.  This module will focus on maintaining the calm we created in the practices and teachings of Module 4.

Module 6 - "Awakening to a Higher Perspective"

This module will begin to offer more "sun" approaches to teaching and personal practice.  Deepening the understanding of the Tantric approach to Vinyasa Yoga by invoking the Masculine Energy; advancing pranayama and meditation; continued depth of Anatomy in Motion; and advancing mudras and bandhas.

Module 7 - "Expansion"

Continuing to build on even deeper Tantric approaches to Vinyasa Yoga through the Masculine Energy; expansion of the Truth through advancing pranayama; application of the principles of all modules to the Yogic Lifestyle; advancing Chakra work and meditation; advanced Anatomy in Motion.  This module pulls together the sequence of advancing practice as suggested by the Hatha Yoga Pradipika.

Module 8 - "Practicum"

Forty hours are completed throughout the course of the other seven modules.  Teaching, assisting, observing and giving/receiving feedback.  Dates and times will be set up on an individual basis.  For students outside of the Cleveland area, video tape submission is required.
